Job Description:

7 Vines Vineyard is seeking an ambitious and passionate Winemaker to join our team! This is a rare opportunity to work at a state of the art facility where the General Manager of Winemaking & Viticulture oversees the daily winemaking activities to attain the highest quality wine possible. This includes training, directing staff, planning harvests, sourcing, and full spectrum grape to bottle responsibility to meet winemaking and harvest goals. In addition to winemaking responsibility, this position will oversee our 10 acre vineyard and will be responsible for the day to day management of vineyard operations to ensure soil and vine health and production of the highest quality grapes for winemaking.

Responsibilities include: Winemaking: - Work closely with the Assistant Winemaker and operations team to accomplish company goals and objectives - Maintain product quality and address supply/demand fluctuations to help meet product volume goals. - Recommend and implement bottle aging strategies and release timing of all products. - Develop wine blends and new wines in order to support short and long-term winemaking goals and objectives. - Participate in the development of the annual winemaking operating and capital expense budget; responsible for adhering to approved budgets, ensuring targets are met within winemaking operations. - Recommend and evaluate new products; implement production on new approved wines. - Oversee all enological matters; ensure appropriate record keeping for legal compliance with Federal and State regulations relating to all winemaking activities. - Oversee barrel and cellar purchases related to specific winemaking responsibilities. - Monitor the supply and ingredient inventory, including pre-harvest winemaking supplies, all wine additives and fining agents. - Participate in marketing and public relations activities. Serve as lead technical spokesperson for assigned wines or brands. - Assist in the education of all staff to help them acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of 7VV and our wines - Oversee the continuous improvement of process through all phases of the wine production and manage quality assurance processes to enhance winemaking procedures. - Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Vineyard: - Oversee 10 acres of vineyard to ensure healthy vines and highest quality of grape production - Manage and train vineyard labor crew to assist in caring for vines - Planting, pruning, and training of grapevines including any vineyard renovation or replanting and other weather related management - Monitor pests and diseases problems in vineyards and recommend pest management strategies when action is needed, including adhering to spray schedule. - Develop the annual vineyard management plans for operations, including harvest plans - Oversee safety program, including safe operation of any vineyard equipment - Keep accurate and regular record keeping

Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science degree in Viticulture, Fermentation Science, Enology or related sciences. - 9+ years experience in winemaking, enology, or viticulture reflecting increasing levels of responsibility - Supervisory or managerial experience - Exposure to other winemaking regions and different climatic conditions preferred - Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and periodic long hours, especially during peak times of the year to ensure wine quality - Knowledge of technical procedures and ability to understand and use technical?documents, including winery/vineyard software. - Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in changing weather conditions - Ability to lift 50 lb, to go up and down ladder and catwalk.
