Dates:

In Person: Saturday, November 7, 10:00 am-2:30 pm; Saturday, November 14, 10:00 am-2:30 pm.

Online: Tuesday, November 10, 10:00 am-2:00 pm; Tuesday, November 17, 10:00 am-2:00 pm.

Exam: In person, Saturday, November 21, 10:00 am-11:00 am.

Times: Please arrive by 9:45 am in order to begin on time. The first two classes are approximately 4.5-hour days, the online classes are approximately 4 hours, and the exam is 1 hour consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions.

Tuition: $875.00 (includes text and 43 wines to be evaluated during the course)

WSET's Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner- to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts.

This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.Find out if this course is right for you.

The style and quality of wines:

made from 22 regionally important grape varieties

produced in over 70 geographical indications (GIs) around the world

How grape varieties and winemaking processes influence key styles of:

Sparkling wines

Fortified wines

Key labelling terms used to indicate origin, style and quality

Principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine

Principles of food and wine pairing

This qualification has a minimum requirement of 28 hours* of study time:

16 hours of delivery time with a WSET course provider (classroom or online)

11 hours of personal study and revision

This qualification has a minimum requirement of 28 hours* of study time:

A one-hour closed-book examination comprised of 50 multiple-choice questions.

On successful completion of the examination you will receive a WSET certificate and optional lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.
Ashley Hausman MW

Ashley, came into the wine industry in 2008 while completing her Masters in English and American Literature at New York University. She moved back to Colorado in 2009, earned her CSW through the Society of Wine Educators, gained certification as a sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers, and then attained her Diploma from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust before completing her Master of Wine through the Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW).

Currently, Owner, So What Wine wineshop, Stillwater MN.Over the years, however, she has worked just about every facet in the trade, from retail and academia to consulting through Mistral Wine Co., which she formed in 2014. She has even gotten her hands dirty the past couple vintages, working harvest at the prestigious Domaine Dujac in Burgundy, Screaming Eagle in Napa, and collaborating with friends on her own wine project in Willamette Valley. Ashley is also currently co-writing a book on Pacific Northwest wines with a fellow MW.

Midwestern at heart, she just returned to the north country in Stillwater, MN where she can enjoy being closer to family. When she is not teaching, selling, judging, or drinking wine, she can be found reading, writing, running, rock climbing, cooking or obsessing over her dog.
